So... not sure yet if you are into the new CocoWawa Pattern, the Cinnamon Trousers, just yet? Well, here we have some fashion inspiration to convince you that THESE are THE trousers to make this year! :) And also, a bit of fabric shopping to get you in the mood... ;) Are you ready?
Let's start then with some inspiration from the high street!
Lovely Spring version in pink with big ruffles from TopShop.
A more simple option if you choose version A of the Cinnamon Trousers.
You can also have some fun with bold prints! These are from Monki.
Ruffle detail at the hem of this model from TopShop.
Beautiful and a more classic option from TopShop. Go for version B with pleats on the Cinnamon Trousers!
A version with classic, minimalist lines from MissGuided.
Another cool version from Monki with ruffles at the hem.
A super idea for a hack! Ruffles at the waistband anyone?
Thoughts on these? Hope this has inspired you to get over any 'trousers' fear' and to start sewing. I tell you, you won't regret it, they are so comfy! And now... for some fabric inspiration. One of the good things about the Cinnamon Trousers is that you can make a pair for the cold and for warm days as well.
For Autumn and Winter, we recommend medium weight woven fabrics like velvet, corduroy, tweed,
needlecord or babycord, fine wool, denim... You can also choose them with a bit of stretch, no more than 10 or a maximum of 20%. Here are some lovely examples we've found online:
Beautiful corduroy fabrics from Higgs and Higgs
The most gorgeous velvet fabrics from Fabric Godmother.
Super colourful denim fabric from Sew Me Sunshine.
For Spring and Summer, go for light to medium weight woven fabrics like cotton, linen, chambray, light denim, viscose, double gauze... You can also choose them with a bit of stretch, no more than 10 or a maximum of 20%.
Beautiful selection of chambray fabric from Guthrie and Ghani.
Vichy cotton fabric from Pretty Mercerie.
Viscose rayon from Cotton Reel Studio.
