Be inspired to make your first curved quilt
Looking for some quilting inspiration? Every time we launch a new sewing pattern for a garment, we write an inspirational post with all the amazing makes sewn by our incredible team of testers, that usually changes with every pattern.
And in this occasion, we wanted to do the same. If you need quilting inspiration for your Dewdrop Quilt, here you will find images and information supplied by our testers and their versions. We hope this will help you with fabric choices, sizes available and more. Let's start!
Crib size quilts
The lovely Claire (aka @yellowpurplezebra) has made this super colorful and beautiful version of the Dewdrop quilt. She used lots of little scraps of fabric to create her drops and it looks amazing! Without doubt, this quilt is a great scrap buster. Regarding her quilting design, she opted for 3 vertical lines running through the middle of the quilt and two at the sides. Very interesting effect.
And here you can also see the fabric she chose for her backing and also for the bias binding.
Caroline (@wakers_quakers) also opted for the crib size, perfect if you don't want to use much fabric and to be able to handle the quilt better if you don't have much space.
She used different solid colours for her drops and it just looks so cheerful and happy. For the quilting part, she preferred to add vertical lines all across her quilt.
And what to say about her backing fabric! Caroline told me that she used an old bed sheet but what about that embroidery flower... Beautiful!
Antje (@antjemakes), who is an experience quilter, has made this incredible version, adding two borders to the quilt. The combination of colours and prints is incredible.
Another example of the crib size of the Dewdrop Quilt is this incredibly beautiful one made by super Spanish sewist Ángela (@la_caja_de_angela). Love the colours, the binding... everything!
And instead of quilting the quilt all the way or using the using machine, she hand sewed a line of stitches around each drop. It looks stunning.
Throw size quilts
Lovely Mel (@stitch_make_bake), who is already an advanced quilter, has made this gorgeous version of the Dewdrop quilt using different prints for her drops and a white background. I am so in love with her version. For her quilting, she opted for a grid design.
And what is more, she did all her quilting design by hand. Yes! Such an amazing job.
One of our amazing Spanish testers, Adriana (@chibilabs) has made this GORGEOUS! version of the Dewdrop Quilt. She also went for the Throw size (the medium one) and it just looks amazing!
I think the colour combination is so clever and it looks fantastic. This quilt has so many possibilities!
The lovely and amazing seamstress Bianca (@sleepless_in_bavaria) has also shared with me her work-in-progress of her Dewdrop Quilt. I love all the shades of blue she used and how her lovely cat Lucy also wanted to be in the picture!
