Chestnut Top by Mayuri
Hi Stitchers! We are back again with an easy top sewing pattern blog post thanks to one of our amazing contributors. The lovely Mayuri (@sewnbymayuri) is a self-taught seamstress based in the UK. She aims for her sewing to be as sustainable as possible and she also does a bit of self-drafting.
In this occasion, we sent her the very Autumnal and cute! easy top sewing pattern Chestnut for her to play with. We also provided her with a fabric of her choice and she went for a lovely jersey in green with irregular polka dots in black.
The easy top sewing pattern Chestnut comes with 6 options to make it your own. You can choose between the sweater version or the top, which is the one Mayuri went for. There are also different alternatives for the bow: from one at the shoulder seam, to a back full of them (like Mayuri) or just one at the back neckline.
Regarding the alterations made by Mayuri, she shortened the length of the body by 10cm and then she gave the sleeve a mock roll-cuff to keep it autumnal. She also added 3 bows (rather than 4) to keep an exposed back. How cute those pink bows look!? And you can also wear a tank top or similar underneath during the colder months.
Mayuri used her sewing machine to make the whole of the top and she used a zigzag stitch for the neckline and hem.
