Welcome to a new day of the Honeycomb Shirt and Dress CocoWawa sewing pattern Sew Along! Today we are working on our 'burrito' and finishing the bodice. Let's start!
Yoke part II
All versions
Pick up your back piece with the yoke already stitched and place the back yoke on top of the front bodice along the shoulder seams, wrong sides together. Pin and sew. The top yoke will be left hanging down.
Place the shirt with the front facing you and the top yoke laying flat behind and facing downwards. Now roll the front and back bodice pieces together towards the shoulder seams leaving the yoke out like shown.
If your ‘burrito’ is tight enough, you will be able to flip the remaining yoke piece up enclosing the two bodice pieces and matching shoulder seams. Pin and sew.
Now pull the pieces through the hole on the neck and you’ve got your ‘burrito’ ready! You can also topstitch the yoke along the seam line. Now it is a good moment to stay stitch the neckline along the curve using a 0.5cm seam allowance.
Finish joining back and front bodice pieces
All versions
Take the two remaining straps that you stitched yesterday. Then place the panel on top of the back bodice with right sides together and aligning the pieces along the underarm seam matching notches. Pick up the strap and place it between both pieces following the placement marks as shown. Pin and sew. Do the same with the other side and finish those seams with your preferred method.
And... we are done for today! Hope your 'burrito' came out well and as always, you have also a Honeycomb Dress and Shirt pattern video tutorial in case you missed any step.
Tomorrow we are attaching the collar!
Happy sewing.
