At Coco Wawa we have being busy organizing a super cool event to celebrate the upcoming Great British Sewing Bee new series (read all about it here!), but we have had time to sew a bit as well 🙂
This time and yes, after years of sewing, I have made something for The Man. I know, I know… Totally shameless! But you understand me guys, right? There way too many cute patterns out there and too little time and too many amazing fabrics… I’ve got no excuse? Ok, ok… You are right! So finally here is the Negroni Shirt I made using the always reliable Colette Patterns.
I have told you before how much I love Colette Patterns. The instructions are super clear and well structured. The technical drawings, the views and the pictures are always helpful and no, they don’t pay me to say any of these! Hahaha 🙂 But it is so satisfying finding good instructions on a sewing pattern!
In this case, the Negroni Shirt is recommended for an intermediate dressmaker but I would say that a confident beginner could tackle it as well, especially when choosing the short sleeve option and having sewn sleeves before. Another part I specially liked were the flat felled seams, although they were a bit trickier on the armscye.
The fitting went pretty well (some complaints from The Man about pins pinning. Little he knows how we seamstresses become immune to pin/needle pain after being pocked by around a million times!!). Just had to take in a bit on the side seams and the arms but that was it.
And now, for the whole look! Here is The Man showing off!! 🙂
For the fabric, I chose this soft and light blue cotton chambray I bought at Fabric Godmother (thanks Josie for sending over some samples so I could choose!). The buttons are from The Button Queen in London, another must if you are around. The place is tiny but has thousands of buttons of all colours, types and shapes!!
Need to fix that button on the collar and I am shortening the sleeves a bit more…
And the last two!
So that’s it for now. Hope you liked the post guys (and that The Man doesn’t bother me much now that he knows I can make things for him as well, haha!). See you soon here again lovely people and happy sewing! 🙂
xx

PS. The Man’s name is Alan and I love him 😉
